Inconsiderate

July 22nd, 2009  |  by Art  |  published in Daily Ride

One thing that really ticks me off is inconsiderate bus drivers. You know the kind. The ones that see you trying to cross the street to catch the bus, but simply turn their heads as they drive off.
Safety should be a concern as riders run to the bus thinking that they have been seen by [...]

My Heart Goes Bang Bang Bang Bang (part 2)

July 19th, 2009  |  by Art  |  published in Daily Ride, Medical

Previously, I talked about having some heart attack symptoms after trotting a few blocks to try and catch my bus.  Needless to say, I was not feeling very good at all.
I know I should have just stopped at the nearest hospital and get treatment right away if I suspected a heart attack or stroke. Instead, [...]

My Heart Goes Bang Bang Bang Bang (part 1)

July 18th, 2009  |  by Art  |  published in Daily Ride, Medical

I had a scare this past Tuesday. I was running late for a bus and decided to run, or rather jog to my stop so as not to miss the express bus. I trotted the distance equivalent to 2 city blocks. Not far by any means.
I started to feel very uncomfortable, but luckily I was [...]

Running Late

Running Late

I’ve spent a while learning the transit system and I seem to have gotten the hang of getting around town. I understand the nature of timing my moves depending on either the time I have to be there or the time the bus is arriving.
Today I thought I would be a little adventurous and took [...]

Heat Wave

June 27th, 2009  |  by Art  |  published in Daily Ride

I have never been able to figure out why people live in the ungodly of places. Take for example, Arizona. It is consistently hotter then hell during the Summer months and frankly, I can’t stand the heat.

So when San Antonio weather crept to a record-breaking 103 yesterday and so far at least 4 days straight with 100+ degree weather, I added San Antonio to the list of placed I wouldn’t want to live. Unfortunately, I do live here and the heat is killing me.

Butch Cassidy and the Pimple Poppin’ Kid

Wait I almost got it.

I have seen some pretty off the wall things riding the bus. I’ve seen guys drink and smoke pot on the bus, little children ready to pounce an older lady because she looked at her wrong, and little old ladies with really bad attitudes. But I have to say, yesterday took the cake.

New Information

Here is a little update to my quest to ride mass transit. If you don’t remember, I was planning to ride the bus for a year, mainly because my car is not running up to par. Things are going good so far, but I remember why I hate San Antonio. It gets so freaking hot during the summer. Today it was nearly 100 degrees and the rest of the week promises to be hotter. On my weather app on my iPhone, Thursday was suppose to get to 103. I can’t wait.

Forget The Bar, Let’s Ride The Bus

When I’m in the mood to toss back a few beers during a Spurs game, I usually head to my favorite watering hole. Not anymore.

Under Pressure

Breath in and out…in and out. Relax. Stay calm. Now, let’s talk. I noticed recently when I went to the store, I was a wreck. I was driving 10 minutes from my house at most. Literally walking distance, you know about a mile and a half, when this car did a California roll at a stop sign.

People Are Strange

April 28th, 2009  |  by Art  |  published in Daily Ride

I have been riding the bus for over a month now and have come across stone strange activity. Simply put, Jim Morrison was right; People are strange.

People of all walks of life ride the bus and there’s not much mass transit can do to keep the riffraff off. It isn’t called public transportation for nothing.
